A Tragedy

Please remember the Matthews family in your prayers. One of the twin girls, Anna, got too close to a fire and was burned very badly on Wednesday the 3rd.

All this complicated by the fact they are missionaries serving in Brazil. However the Lord is in control and has seen fit to allow little Anna to live.

Please pray for the following:
- That Anna's heart and lungs will heal.
- That she will be safely life flighted back to a Shriner's burn hospital here in the states.
- Comfort and Strength for the Carol Ann and Rick.

April has started with a bang!

David Edward Teesdale was born 3/31 at 11 am. He weighed 7lb 10oz and was 20.5" long. Unfortunately when they were delivering him he inhaled a big gulp of fluid and had to be on a CPAP machine for four days in NICU. They took him off last night and he seem to be doing well.

Kristy is also doing well, a little sore but recovering nicely.

Thanks to all who pray for us and those who prayed especially for little David...

Long Overdue Updates

My apologies for failing to update this blog more regularly!

The church is doing really well. As of last Sunday, we have 20 regular attenders. Many are new folks who have begun attending within the last 6 months. The people of the church are extremely excited about this new year. Our theme for 2008 is GROW!. We aim to GROW spiritually as individuals which in turn will enable us to GROW as a church both spiritually and numerically.

If you are partnering in prayer with us, please consider these things:

1. That real, tangible spiritual growth will continue to be realized in the lives of those who are attending.
2. That we will find a more permanent location to meet.
3. That we will be able to begin ministering on the Everett Naval Station.
4. That I will be able to quit my secular job soon as the church needs greater attention.

May - July Update

Hello All,

I have been lackadaisical in updating this blog, my apologies to those who check in here periodically to better pray for us...
  • We had our first all church soul-winning effort in May, one Sunday after the morning services. It went well with 2 contacts being made. We are now having a regular church wide soulwinning time on Sunday afternoons before the evening service.
  • The Lord has provided for us a church van so we can pick up families for church. It is an 86 Ford with only 80k miles. It run like a top.
  • June was a hard month, Satan was working on every side trying to discourage us. However, we saw some great victories this month and I personally am more encouraged than ever about the work God has for us here in Everett.
  • July has started off great as we had our first ever Vacation Bible School. We had a total of 12 children attend. The number of children is lower than we expected but we were able to really work and witness with those 12 children. We are having our VBS commencement this Sunday and we hope to have all our parents attend.
Please pray especially for our new door knocking and outreach campaign starting in August. We are calling it "The 1,000 Door Challenge" and we will attempt to knock 1,000 doors in August and September.

Thanks for all who are praying for us...

April Update - Rejoice With Us!

I hope this post finds everyone doing well...

We had our first set of evangelistic meetings in April. Bro. Tim Shanks from God's Word Baptist Church in Ridgefield, WA graciously came and preached every evening. Many of the unsaved we had prayed for came and we had 3 make professions of faith. All in all we had 40-50 first time visitors and some have continued to attend after the meetings. On the final evening we had 57 in attendance which is record for our church.

After months of door knocking in the neighborhood adjacent to the church, the Lord has refocused our soul-winning efforts to a neighborhood, 10 blocks north of the church. It is quickly becoming my favorite pond to fish in as it seems most we speak to are receptive to the gospel. This is unusual in a state where over 40% of the population claim to be agnostic. In fact this Sunday we had 4 people visit who were a direct result of door to door soul-winning.

We are now looking to acquire a used 16 passenger van to help pickup some of the families we are meeting while out soul-winning.

If you are praying for and with us, please remember the following:
  1. Souls to continue to be reached.
  2. Continued spiritual growth in the church.
  3. A van to pick up families for church.
  4. VBS in July. That we can reach additional families

Preparing for Spring

Hello Everyone,

It sure has been a busy start to spring. Just a few notable bits of news...
  • We had a new member join a couple weeks ago. This same lady had implicitly declared on her first visit that "she was not looking to join any church!" However, about a month ago she declared that she knew it was the Lord's will to join. Praise The Lord!
  • We are continuing to have visitors almost every Sunday.
  • We are ramping up on our weekly door to door soul winning program. In the first couple weeks we have had some great opportunities to share the Gospel.
  • Our home church in Texas has decided to take the church on for monthly support. The money will be used primarily for our building fund.
We are sure getting excited about our upcoming Everett for Christ meetings. Unfortunately we will be unable to have a old-fashioned tent meeting as planned but the Lord don't need a test to see folks saved!

If you pray for us, please pray that our evangelism meetings will go well, that folks will get saved, and the church will grow.

A Quick Update

Just a quick update:

  • We had a new family join Sunday PM. They had been visiting for the last 2 mo.
  • One of our members had some family visit this Sunday. They said they plan on being back this week.
  • For the last month we have had a lady visitor from Edmonds join us for almost all services. She has been searching for a good Bible-believing church. In the short time she has been with us, she has been a huge blessing and encouragement.
Thanks for all those who visit this blog and pray for us regularly...

How is Your Vision?

We had our first ever Vision Sunday!

What is Vision Sunday you ask? Well, it is when I present my goals and vision for the church in this coming year. During the month of December I prayed and planned for this upcoming year. I believe the goals we have set are exciting and certainly possible.

What are our goals for this next year?

BY GOD'S GRACE WE HOPE:
  1. To see at least 25 people saved, baptized, discipled and added to the church!
How are we going to see this goal accomplished?
  • Knock 1,000+ doors in our city. Offer free 3 week salvation Bible studies.
  • Plan special evangelistic services and outreach promotions.
  • Aggressively reach the local naval station.
2. To see measurable growth in lives of our members.

This will be accomplished by:
  • Accountability among the membership in areas of basic Christian growth.
  • Ownership of ministry opportunities.
  • Special opportunities for teaching and fellowship.

On a side note we had a new visitor who had been searching for a good church come both Sunday AM and Thursday PM. We have had visitors 3 of the last 4 weeks. Praise the Lord!

Thanks for your prayers as we strive for souls in Everett, Washington...
